Cancun & the Mayan Riviera

My grandparents would travel to Acapulco at Christmastime, declaring “no kids this year!” but by day 5, a call home from my grandparents would send my mother scrambling to find tickets for us connecting through Chicago and Dallas at Christmastime! I think it was worth it, but I can’t speak for her.

Fast-forward to now having my own family, my parents want to plan those same multi-generational trips for their grandkids. We now visit Mexico regularly, and we have absolutely fallen in love with the Mayan Riviera’s world-class beaches, consistently fantastic food and 5-star resort options. With a flight time of 4 hours (or less) from most North American cities, Cancun is the ideal spot to bring the little ones.

There are so many amazing activities, resort amenities, and delicious dining options for all generations to enjoy. Our recent trip to the Fives Beach Resort in Playa del Carmen was no exception. Less than 40 minutes from the airport, this large, family-friendly resort caters to just about everybody. With multiple pools, a kids club, 6 restaurants, outdoor taco bar, and wood-fired pizza ovens, you will never be bored or hungry! They also cater to special dietary restrictions and allergies, including gluten allergies, making it a safe option for anyone in your group. We’ve been back many times over the years, and I love recommending it to my clients with multi-generation travel groups of any size.

The Fives Beach Resort is our favorite spot, but I’ve had the opportunity to visit and train on multiple properties in the Mayan Riviera. If you let me know what you’re looking for, we’ll work together to find a perfect relaxing escape and help your trip run smoothly.
